Argentina can roughly be divided into three parts: the fertile plains of the Pampas in the central part of the country, the centre of Argentina's agricultural wealth; the flat to rolling plateau of Patagonia in the southern half down to Tierra del Fuego; and the rugged Andes mountain range along the western border with Chile, with the highest point lays in the province of Mendoza. It is the Cerro Aconcagua at 6,960 metres, which is the continent's highest mountain.

| Argentina's culture has been primarily informed and influenced by its European roots. Buenos Aires is undeniably the most European city in South America and considered by many its cultural capital. The best-known elements of Argentina's culture are probably music and dance, particularly tango. In modern Argentina, tango music is enjoyed in its own right, especially since the radical Astor Piazzolla redefined the music of Carlos Gardel. |

Argentina's Climate:
Buenos Aires and the Pampas are temperate; cool in the winter, hot and humid in the summer. The deserts of Cuyo are extremely hot and dry in the summer and moderately cold and dry in the winter. Patagonia is cool in the summer and cold in the winter.
Don't forget that the seasons in Argentina are reversed from those of the Northern Hemisphere. |
