 | Your hosts, Graeme and Kathy Ricketts, have been visiting Kangaroo Island for both social and work commitments for over 30 years. Graeme a carpenter and Kathy a Marine Biologist & Business Manager purchased the property in 2001 when the dream of creating a peaceful retreat was born.
Graeme’s love of fine craftsmanship and encouragement from his family convinced him to resign his position and commence construction of The Mary Ellen Log cabin in late November 2005 with its completion in July 2006.
Future development plans are the construction of our own residence which Graeme will commence in 2007 followed by a further cabin similar to the Mary Ellen in 2008.
Eleanor River Homestead will continue to be developed with the expansion of natural walking trails, rest areas and bird watching facilities in and around the property and along the banks of the Eleanor River. |

Solar energy supplies the power while hot water is obtained with the use of LPG Gas.
Water is by way of a 12,000 litre rainwater tank which supplies all utilities within the cabin. Waste treatment is achieved by utilizing the latest technology in the use of worms to convert the sewage and grey water to a safe and reusable irrigation system which ultimately waters the surrounding gardens.
Centrally located in the heart of Kangaroo Island we are just 10 minutes from Seal Bay, 15 minutes from Vivione Bay, 35 minutes from the wonders of Flinders Chase National Park and nearby to the Parndana Wildlife park and Historic Soldier Settler Museum at Parndana. |
