 | Situated on 400 acres of native bushland and farmland, North Bundaleer was completed in 1901, one of the last grand Pastoral Homesteads built in South Australia.
Registered on the National Estate, we are situated 190km North of Adelaide, in the Clare Valley region, on the way to the Flinders Ranges and the edge of the Outback.
Although the surroundings may be grand, the ambience is relaxed and informal. Let us welcome you as our guests for a unique experience of rest and recuperation.
The aim of North Bundaleer is to provide an environment in which to unwind and enjoy the simple pleasures of life—a good meal, fresh air, and good company.
With the Clare Valley close by, the historic mining towns of Burra and Mintaro to visit, bushwalking along the Heyson and Mawson Trails that traverse the Bundaleer Forest, 4-wheel drive tracks—there is plenty to do, for those feeling more energetic. Self-drive, or guided—we can organise a day to suit your needs, and pack up a picnic to e |
Guests have the use of the entire Homestead, including the formal Drawing Room and Library. For conversation, reading, pre-dinner or after dinner drinks, these rooms are the ideal location. Both have open fireplaces and comfortable seating.
The decoration in the Drawing Room has been designed around an original hand painted frieze over two columns set in a bay window which contains two curved E F Troy leadlight windows picturing almond blossom, birds and butterflies.
With an antique French Aubusson carpet, fine antiques, original artworks and oil paintings, French Rose marble fireplace, the room is elegant and feminine.
The Library has more the atmosphere of a gentleman’s club, with William Morris wallpaper and curtain fabrics. The original wood graining of oak, bird’s eye maple and tortoiseshell complements the antique mahogany partners’ desk and oak break front bookcase, Ethiopian parchment paintings, antique prints and etchings. | |
 | ‘Dinner Parties’ in the dining room are an occasion for relaxed enjoyment of the company, conversation, food and wines. The Irish Georgian table has witnessed plenty of good jokes and laughter, robust debate, and new friendships.
View from the top of our hillWeather permitting, sundowners can be enjoyed on ‘Fred’s Knob’, which enjoys panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and forest.
Breakfast is served in the kitchen—most opting for the fully cooked option, in spite of declarations the night before of only requiring a little cereal or fruit in the morning! |
