 | Lovely red-tiled XVIIth century villa Le Cros is for the real lover of Provence. The descendant of the family, while still preserving its original soul, has just entirely refurbished it. Located in a quiet residential street of the old village of Le Cannet, above Cannes, it is only 3 kilometres from the Croisette and a 10-minute drive to the beaches and Mounts of Estérel. It is laid out over three levels and has kept its old wash-place, winepress, preserves cupboard, terracotta boiler. It enjoys a quaint garden of olive- orange - and tangerine-trees. The second floor has sea-views on Cannes from all the rooms. There are two rooms each with two single beds that can be changed into double beds. The first room has a large bathroom en suite with bath and hair-dryer; the second has a washbasin in a cupboard. There is also a brand new spa massage shower-room. The large Italian sofa in the drawing room can sleep two more. The house has all modern amenities including ADSL and Satellite TV. |
| The Ultimate Cannes Experience This charming 17th century Provençal house has been in the owner's family for over 3 centuries and has been added to in the course of centuries. It is named Le Cros (the Hollow) and gave its name to the quarter. It is located at the top of Cannes's well-known Boulevard Carnot : this boulevard directly connects the Palais des Festivals to Le Cannet. The rue du Cros is off the rue Victorien Sardou in which Le Cannet's only cinema is located. The centre of Cannes can be reached by direct bus N°5 in less than twenty minutes for just 1€. There is also a taxi rank at the town hall : taxis take you to the Croisette in less than 10 minutes. In addition you may rent a car with Sixt France at very good rates. It is very easy to park along the house, in the street or in the free communal car-park. Although the villa is not what you would call 'close to the Croisette', it has a sea-view from all the bedrooms. | |
 | Le Cannet, also called France's Madeira, is an old historical town between Mougins and Vallauris, on the hill overlooking the bay of Cannes : it has much to offer in terms of artistic life and has been the haunt of famous painters, especially Pierre Bonnard who is buried there (a musée Bonnard will open in the Spring of 2007). It is for tourists who want to experience the genuine local life, the historical sites and get a taste of the local folklore in addition to visiting the French Riviera. The owner of the villa is a descendant of the 140 Ligurian families who, in the 15th century, came from Italy at the invitation of the monks of the Iles de Lerins (off Cannes) to cultivate their orange-trees. The genealogical tree on Place Bellevue still bears testimony to the adventure of the foundation of the village.
