The village - famous for its T.V series 'Echoes' - nestling at the entrance to Waterford Estuary, is rich in history and tradition, a history that is bound up with the sea. The sea and the myriad of activities that surround it - fishing, sailing, angling, swimming & wind surfing - is still at the heart of life in Dunmore East today. The night life in the pubs and restaurants is second to none and everything is within walking distance. And there is more. Within easy reach of the village the visitor can enjoy horse riding, golf, a visit to the world-renowned Waterford Crystal factory or a trip to the majestic Comeragh Mountains. The Passage East Car Ferry, just 4 miles away brings close to hand such attractions as Hook Head, which boasts the oldest lighthouse in Europe and the Kennedy Park Arboretum near New Ross. In 2005 Waterford is host to the Tall ships which will be a spectacular occasion with over 100 ships sailing by Dunmore to Waterford harbour. ( week 2nd - 9th July)
