By far the easiest way to get to the Isle is by car.
From the South: Head towards Carlisle (M6 or A69 depending on your side of the country). Once at Carlisle join the A74 to Gretna. At Gretna follow the A75 past Dumfries and all the way to Newton Stewart. Once there join the A714 to Wigtown. At Wigtown get on the A746 which will take you through Sorbie and onto Whithorn. Once at Whithorn take the B7004 which takes your right into the Isle of Whithorn.
