Fife Holiday Accommodation

Fife is a peninsula in eastern Scotland bordered on the north by the River Tay estuary, on the east by the North Sea and the Firth of Forth to the south.

Fife has a number of extinct volcanic features, such as the Lomond Hills which rise above rolling farmland. The coast has many fine but small harbours, from the industrial docks in Burntisland and Rosyth to the fishing villages of the East Neuk such as Anstruther and Pittenweem.

Fife's towns and villages are steeped in Scotland's history and a visit to the Kingdom of Fife is a step back in time.

Dunfermline stands as testimony to the Kingdom's rich heritage. Once the birthplace of monarchs and the final resting place of Robert the Bruce.

Falkland also displays its royal credentials in its stately Palace, the favourite hunting lodge of a succesion of Stewart monarchs while St Andrews, once the ecclesiastic capital of Scotland but now better known as a golfer's paradise.

Kirkcaldy, the commercial centre of the Kingdom of Fife and birthplace of economist Adam Smith and architect Robert Adam, also houses a superb collection of Scottish Colourist paintings in its fine Museum and Art Gallery.

Meanwhile, in the picturesque villages of the East Neuk of Fife, whitewashed buildings with red pantiled roofs overlook cobbled winding streets leading to secluded little fishing harbours, settings which seem to have changed little over the preceding 150 years. They also testify to the strong heritage of sea-fishing that lives on the area. The past is still very much alive in the Kingdom of Fife.

Named after Saint Andrew the Apostle, the Royal Burgh of St Andrews is the home of golf It stands on the North Sea coast between Edinburgh and Dundee. The town has acquired the name of "the Mecca of Golf", partly because the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, founded in 1754 and partly because of its beautiful links (acquired by the town in 1894).
