Beinn Dhearg

In Inverness, Highlands

Take a leisurely drive for just eight miles from the centre of Inverness, the Highland Capital, down the A862, you will come to the picturesque village of Dores nesting in the Great Glen, on the banks of Loch Ness.

In the Gaelic language, still spoken in many parts of the north, Beinn Dhearg means red mountain, and the scenic beauty of the area can be fully appreciated on a weekend break or full Highland holiday at this family-run guest house.

Our guest house is just 100 yards from the famous loch in which many believe lurks the even more famous monster, Nessie.
Freshen up in an en-suite shower and have a cup of tea or coffee with real Scottish shortbread available any time.
You can relax in the spacious lounge, or take a walk and gaze, hopefully, out over the mysterious loch.
Sightings of Nessie are not guaranteed, but it would be great if you did. Remember to bring your camera - just in case!
Accommodation at Beinn Dhearg includes a twin room, a double room and a family room.
Just for Nessie-spotters, one of the rooms looks out over the monster's rippling playground.

Our breakfast is very Scottish: big and hearty. Even if you are going fishing, which we can arrange for you, sailing in the loch, or sight-seeing, our breakfast will set you up for the day.

Activities available on the doorstep of the Beinn Dhearg include horse riding, bird watching, and wonderful flora and fauna.

Ask for details of distilleries to visit. See how fine whiskies are made...and maybe have a wee dram yourself. Then, after a day of exploring the beauty and majesty of the Scottish Highlands, head back for a home-cooked dinner at the Dores Inn, close to the Beinn Dhearg.

Late bird? Guests at the Beinn Dhearg get their own door keys so they are free to come and go at any time, early or late. Plenty of car parking space is available.
